When the brave stand what do they hear?
Do they hear past battles raging?
The bugle playing as comrades are laid to rest?
The sound of weapons loading, warplanes flying, or waves against a battleship?
Do they hear goodbye from someone they love?
Do they hear speeches of heroes or words of leaders they hope to be true and just?
Do they hear a flag fighting against the wind as it did when they were young and ready for war?
When the brave are before us and we stand before them do they hear...
Our silent thankyou
Our quiet honouring
Our still gratitude
The faces of freedom hear our silence
Because they chose to stand with the brave.
