Petro-Canada Lubricants Part 4: How Autonomous Mining & Ultra Low Zinc Tech Reshape Fleet Care #394
Mining equipment is being pushed harder than ever as operations work to increase production and keep increasingly autonomous fleets running around the clock. With haul trucks and heavy machinery operating continuously in some of the world’s most demanding environments, the right lubrication strategy can make a major difference in equipment reliability, component life, and unplanned downtime.
In this Mining NOW episode, host Jerrod Downey speaks with Petro-Canada Lubricants Senior Sales Managers Guillaume Lebeau and Andrew Peterson about the challenges mining companies face when maintaining heavy equipment under extreme operating conditions.
The discussion covers real-world applications ranging from underground mining in the extreme cold of Northern Ontario to large autonomous equipment fleets operating in the Alberta Oil Sands. Guillaume and Andrew explain how mining operations can approach lubrication, equipment maintenance, and lubricant supply to keep critical assets performing reliably.
The conversation also examines newer lubricant technologies, including Ultra Low Zinc (ULZ) gear oils and all-season mining greases. These formulations are designed to address demanding operating temperatures while helping extend drain intervals, protect gears and components, and meet increasingly stringent environmental requirements. The guests also discuss the challenge of balancing cold-weather start-up performance with protection at high operating temperatures.
Watch the full Mining NOW episode to learn how Petro-Canada Lubricants is helping mining companies improve equipment reliability, lubrication performance, maintenance strategies, and fleet uptime across some of the industry's most challenging environments.
