The Philippines is one of the most highly mineralized countries in the world with 30 million hectares considered to have high mineral potential. According to current estimates, the archipelago has untapped reserves of copper, gold, nickel, zinc, chromite, manganese, iron and silver amounting to $1 trillion USD. Only about 5% of these reserves have been explored and mining contracts cover just 3% of them. In 2023 the Philippines had a production value of mining of 5.52 Billion USD and had $7.32 Billion USD in mineral exports.
